To make the best, most delicious food, you have to learn from the best teachers — at least that’s my philosophy. And when it comes to cooking, the Bay Area is full of incredible teachers willing to share their expertise.
Here, every week a new chef will impart their knowledge on a dish they’ve mastered, and share recipes and techniques for the things they’re best known for. This way you, too, can make the best, most delicious food like the best chef.

After a couple of years reporting on San Francisco’s dynamic restaurant industry, I decided to take my research on all things culinary much deeper into the kitchen.
So, I traded in my comfortable day job for a white chef’s jacket and checkered drawstring pants to join eight other students at San Francisco Cooking School, where I’ve been able to extend my education beyond the classroom with field trips, lessons from guest chefs and face time with professionals throughout the city’s food industry.
